WENU promotes the Women’s Small Business Entrepreneurship Program by inviting women entrepreneurs who own small businesses or have aspiring business plans to apply to compete for a chance to win monetary awards to promote and implement their business plan. The premise is to identify women innovative entrepreneurs with breakthrough ideas to promote women-owned small businesses.

Interested entrepreneur must submit a scholarship application plus an written essay. The WENU Pitch Committee Judges will choose the best 2 entries and determine the winner.

Here is the difference between Aspiring and Existing scholarship

Aspiring Entrepreneurs:

These are individuals who have a business idea or vision but have not yet started or launched their business.

They are in the planning stage, working on concepts, strategies, or initial preparations.

Examples: Someone with a business idea, working on a business plan, or exploring how to start.​​

Existing Entrepreneurs:

These are individuals who already have an operational business, whether in its early stages or well-established.

They are actively running their business, generating revenue, and working on growth or sustainability.

Examples: Someone who owns a store, runs an online business, or has already registered and launched their company.

We require a written essay with our application. This essay helps us get to know you better beyond your business goals and general information.
We want to know who you are. What would you like us to know about you apart from business? Use the prompts below and choose one to write about.

Recount a time you faced a challenge, setback, or failure. How did this experience affect you? What did you learn from this?

Describe a topic or idea that you find so interesting you lose all track of time. Why does this topic or idea interest you? What do you do to learn more about it?
